@Teresa: I went back to Ace. I met with “Dave.” I asked for his name, committed it to memory, then proceeded to forget it when I got home. I was too embarrassed to ask if he wouldn’t mind being filmed. Me? Embarrassed? DJ, love Ace, too. Only place I can find these bags that go in our trash compactor. Seriously. Also the one in Raleigh is next to a wine bar…so can kill two birds with one stone. You know me.

What I love most about this post are the comments from your dad and who I’m guessing is your sis. Funny stuff.

I do feel it is imperative that I make a slight correction to the social butterfly’s home improvement story……First, I have never ever personally done any home improvement. Secondly, the alleged roof incident was in reality a teaching moment: If your last name is Waldow, you should never purchase a hammer without explicit instructions attached to it; it fact you should never buy a hammer that comes without the hammerer, and perhaps most importantly, when one is working with a hammer at any heights other than ground level, there is obviously more than one way to secure yourself from unwanted falls……with that said, learn from that important lesson :never begin any home improvement without first being sure you have all your subcontractors cell numbers in your in your phone!

Okay, I read the blog and didn’t get to far when the tears started streaming down my cheekss!!!! I have been laughing so hard that I think I bruised a rib! I too remember Dad nailing his pants to the roof so if anyone out there doubts the validity of this story, I am here to back you up.

Aside from the funny, after reading this, the next thing on my agenda is to find out where the closest Ace is located and check it out for myself.

Good luck with the electric and keep in touch so I know that you did NOT electricute yourself!

K, all I ask is when you go back to Ace, make sure to get Dave’s real name…and let him know you’re not trying to stalk him or weird him about by taking a friggin’ video of him.

Dave’s a trooper. I bet I could build a house, too, if I had Dave and Ace on my side. I say that’s your next project — build a house for Morocco. Should be a cinch after the electrical issues.

Great story, I love Ace too. There is one near my house and I always go there first for home improvement stuff. That’s where I got my voltmeter (your thingymajig) to diagnose a problem with my dryer.

They have always been very helpful when I was trying to find something or figure out how to fix it.

BTW, if half the outlets aren’t working it could be another breaker, or worse, your wiring.
