Lynette: Awesome comment. I think we have some common (twitter/face-to-face) friends! Wild that you were on the same cruise, but for Rick instead of Social Fresh. Wild. Small world (boat?).

I also love that you and your friends were in some of my pics. Too funny, right?

Curious - what were you googling that landed you here?

-dj

DJ, I know this post is a year old, but Google finds all...

I was on that cruise last year - for Rick Springfield NOT Social Fresh. (I'm jumping on that same ship November 15th to go AGAIN.) I didn't know you were all on the ship with us, I ran into Chris Brogan in the airport on the way home. Turns out I was in a lot of the photos you took of the crazy groupies. Trust me, I would have loved to hang out with your group more than most of the Rick Springfield fans most nights... ;)

I am in your 'genre' of profession - social media/technologies - and trust me, the laser focus of raging lunatic fans and bringing that passion to social networks was not lost on me. It's the constant and personalized attention that RS gives fans, constant new material (yes, the guy has done much more past Jessie's Girl), and the multitude of ways his camp gives fans to show their affiliation. Oh, I am *sure* there is a business lesson there, and being that I AM one of the crazies, I may just have to do a write up on it.

And, yes, I AM Jessie's Girl ;)

PS- The picture you have of a fan in the hallway with Rick Springfield is actually my roommate from the cruise...

The world can be changed by man's endeavor, and that this endeavor can lead to something new and better .No man can sever the bonds that unite him to his society simply by averting his eyes . He must ever be receptive and sensitive to the new ; and have sufficient courage and skill to novel facts and to deal with them .
I guess I would be classified then as a Rick Springfield groupie because I will be going on the next cruise. I love your story and how it all ties together. Cheers!

Jodi

[...] Following: While there were “only” a dozen of us brave souls who camped out to be first in line (still not happy we were 3rd and 4th!), the line started to grow when the news crews arrived at 5AM. By the 9AM opening the line was out the door. As you saw from the video, when Kristina and I arrived later that evening, the wait was over an hour. The drive-through wait was nearly 2 hours. Not sure I would call In ‘N Out fans “groupies,” but they are certainly into their burgers. For more on fans vs. groupies, read my previous post, Jessie’s Girl.
