I saw it tweeted and read it, good stuff.

I came to iPhone from a Nexus One and miss the Android integration
with google services. If what your are searching for in your gmail
isn’t a recent message it says ‘search server’ an if you try it NEVER
returns a result. On Android it was the same as on the desktop,
searched all messages with ease.

Now on iPhone I have to use the mobile web version of gmail to search the past.

What do you mean about gmail and iphone not integrating well?

Email is the great organizer for the disorganized, I love to send myself emails like you mentioned in #12 to save bits of info I know I will need in the future. It is important to make it include the phrase or words you will search for in the future, but it has saved me more than once. One major reason I wish Gmail and iPhone integrated better. Thanks for the cool article.

Fair point (and thanks for commenting). Allow me to clarify. I think email is an incredibly powerful channel. Heck - it's what I *do* for a living. However, if you have something that needs to happen ASAP, email is not always the best channel. Urgent and timely may not be one in the same.

What if you email me something urgent, but I don't check email for a few days? What would you do? Pick up the phone...

Does that make sense?

Thanks John. I think the issue is often that folks forget #4 and just leave it at 'we' … then wonder when nothing gets done.

Yup. I use Gmail and so I tend to archive like crazy. Nothing more frustrating then not being able to find an email. If the subject line on an important email sucks, I'll send myself a copy of that email with a better subject line.

agree on most point, but do have a comment on #8. I would disagree that all important topics require an IM, phone call, or text. I often use email for important topics. However, I am a huge proponent of emailing (in addition to or in replace of an email) when something is urgent. Just my $0.02
